Parker Point

Customer: Rottnest Island Authority

Objective: Over many years wind erosion had caused a large blowout at Parker Point on the South of Rottnest Island. This blowout was threatening to overcome the remaining dune habitat. Large amounts of sand were relocated to reinstate the dune to the original profile.

Product used: Once sand had been relocated by earthmoving equipment Jutemaster Thick Mat was used in conjunction with sand trap fencing and the planting of seedlings to rehabilitate the area.

Work commenced: April 2008

Results: Interim reports are that plant stock is progressing well and the reconstructed dune is holding up well protecting the area behind it.
