Objective: Penguin Island was experiencing sand erosion that was threatening installations on the island. A sand replenishment project was commenced and various items were used in the rehabilitation works.

Product Used: Jutemaster Thick Mat, Mesh Tree Guards, Shade cloth for fencing.

Work commenced: June 2008

Results: Preliminary results indicate the matted surfaces are holding well and plant growth is at expected rates. Sand trap fencing utilizing shadecloth has proven to be very successful in protecting rehabilitation areas.
